I am a local artist and educator in Arlington, VA. My artwork is inspired by the nature around me, especially trees. The tree of life has always been a symbol in my art, through its stability in its roots and its branches reaching up to the sky.  I find nature around me to be calming and love to be outside. Art is to me a meditative space to create and I find that painting trees can be part of that experience. I find calmness in painting the long intertwining branches of the trees, following the branches as they twist and turn to find the sun as they reach towards the sky.

This painting Under the Poplar Trees is inspired by what I see in my own backyard. I was reading a children’s book about Alma Thomas and she references laying underneath the Poplar Trees watching their bright yellow leaves fall to the ground. I love to watch the colors of the sunset and watch the sky turn cobalt blue as it fades into the blue hour letting the crescent moon peak through the trees.

The goddess figure is also a reoccurring theme in my art. The goddess figure represents power and strength. She is represented in the trees of my most recent paintings.

Most of my paintings are acrylic paint, some have collage elements, and some have gold leaf. My smaller work is a combination of mixed mediums including gel prints, watercolor, collage, pens and markers. Most of my smaller work is framed with 11×14 frame.
